Mouen ( pronunciation ? / I ) is a French commune with 1,601 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Calvados department in the Normandy region . It belongs to the arrondissement of Caen and is part of the canton of Caen-1 (until 2015: member municipality in the canton of Tilly-sur-Seulles ). The inhabitants are known as Mouennais . geography

Mouen is located about nine kilometers west-southwest of Caen on the Odon River , which borders the municipality in the south. Mouen is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Verson in the north and east, Baron-sur-Odon in the south, Tourville-sur-Odon in the west and south-west, Mondrainville in the west and Thue et Mue with Cheux in the north-west.

The A84 car route runs through the municipality .
