Giberville is a French municipality with 4967 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Calvados in the region of Normandy . It belongs to the arrondissement of Caen and the canton of Ifs . The inhabitants are called Gibervillais .

geography

Giberville is a banlieue about six kilometers east of downtown Caen . The place essentially consists of the town center and the former industrial center Le Plateau on the western edge of the municipality, in which metalworking companies (including Société métallurgique de Normandie ) have settled. Giberville is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Colombelles in the north and northwest, Cuverville in the northeast, Démouville in the east and southeast, Cagny in the south and southeast and Mondeville in the west and southwest.

The A13 autoroute runs through the municipality .
