Roger Vignoles

Roger Vignoles (born July 12, 1945 in Cheltenham ) is an English pianist , accompanist and music teacher .

Life

The pianist Vignoles was inspired by the playing of Gerald Moore to specialize in song accompaniment. He studied at Magdalene College of Cambridge University and worked as an accompanist at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden operates. He completed his studies with the pianist and music teacher Paul Hamburger, who had emigrated to England from Vienna .

He has accompanied numerous internationally known singers, such as Kiri Te Kanawa , Thomas Allen , Brigitte Fassbaender , Thomas Hampson and Kate Royal on the piano. His work has taken him to the Wigmore Hall , the Wiener Konzerthaus and the Wiener Musikverein , the Concertgebouw Amsterdam , the Carnegie Hall New York , the Scala in Milan and the Frankfurt Opera .

As a music educator, he has given master classes in Amsterdam, Baltimore, Boston, Brussels, Copenhagen, London, Los Angeles, Montreal, New York, Stockholm, Toronto and Valencia, taught regularly at the Universities of Indiana and Bloomington and is Professor of Song Accompaniment at the Royal College of Music in London.

The extensive discography includes works by important composers sung by equally important contemporary interpreters.
