Soumont-Saint-Quentin is a municipality with 542 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Calvados department in Normandy in north-western France . The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Caen and the canton of Falaise (until 2015: canton of Falaise-Nord ). The inhabitants are called Soumontais .
geography
Soumont-Saint-Quentin is about 24 kilometers south-southeast of Caen . Soumont-Saint-Quentin is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Estrées-la-Campagne in the north and north-west, Ouilly-le-Tesson in the north and north-east, Olendon in the east, Bons-Tassilly in the south and south-east, Pontigny in the south, Fontaine-le- Pin in the west and south-west and Saint-Germain-le-Vasson in the west and north-west.
history
In 1833 a part of the municipality ( Saint-Quentin-de-la-Roche ) was merged into the then commune of Tassily to Saint-Quentin-Tassily . However, the part is connected to Soumont in 1854 , so that the municipality with the current name was created.
