Esson is a French commune with a population of 516 (as at 1st January 2017) in the department of Calvados in the region of Normandy . It belongs to the arrondissement of Caen and the canton of Thury-Harcourt . The residents are called Essonais .

geography

Esson is about 23 kilometers northwest of Falaise and 27 kilometers south-southwest of Caen . The municipality is surrounded by Croisilles in the north, Cesny-les-Sources with Placy in the northeast, Meslay in the east, Donnay in the southeast, Combray in the south, Caumont-sur-Orne in the southwest, Saint-Martin-de-Sallen in the west and Thury -Harcourt , capital of the canton of the same name, in a north-westerly direction.
