geography

Caumont-sur-Orne is located on the Orne and is 24 kilometers northeast of the city of Flers . The former municipality covered an area of ​​only 0.92 km². Until 2016, the neighboring communities were Saint-Rémy , Esson and Combray as well as Saint-Martin-de-Sallen on the other side of the Orne .

etymology

Caumont-sur-Orne lies on a chain of sandstone hills. Hence the original name, Mont Chauve , is derived.

economy

The community has always been characterized by agriculture. For a long time there was an oil mill in Caumont-sur-Orne. This was bought in 1914 to set up a cheese production there. This existed until 1969. The buildings were then converted into residential buildings.
