The Arrondissement Caen is an administrative district in the Calvados department in the Normandy region of France .
history
On March 4, 1790, with the establishment of the Calvados department, a District de Caen was also founded, but it was smaller than the current arrondissement. The district was established with the establishment of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800 as Arrondissement Caen.
On September 10, 1926, the arrondissement was expanded to include what was then the arrondissement of Falaise.

The arrondissement borders in the north on the English Channel , in the east on the Arrondissement Lisieux , in the south on the Arrondissement Argentan in the Orne department and in the west on the Arrondissement Bayeux .
