Amblie is a former French commune with the last 277 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013) in the department of Calvados in the region of Normandy . It belonged to the arrondissement of Caen and the canton of Bretteville-l'Orgueilleuse . The inhabitants are known as Ambliais or Ambligeois .
On January 1, 2017, Amblie merged with the neighboring towns of Lantheuil and Tierceville to form the new municipality of Ponts sur Seulles .
geography
Amblie is 5 km from the former landing beaches of Operation Neptune of June 6, 1944 and is halfway between Bayeux and Caen (18 km each). It is in the middle of two valleys, those of the Thue and the Seulles , near the historic Caen plain .
The municipality of Amblie was surrounded by Colombiers-sur-Seulles in the north, Reviers in the north-east and east, Fontaine-Henry in the south-east, Lantheuil in the south and south-west, Creully in the west and south-west and Tierceville in the north-west.
