Fontaine-Henry is a French municipality with 466 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Calvados in the region of Normandy . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Bayeux and the canton of Bretteville-l'Orgueilleuse . The inhabitants are known as the Fontenois .

In the 14th century, the place took over the first name of its liege lord Henry de Tilly, who died in 1305, in the place name.

geography

Fontaine-Henry is about 13 km northwest of Caen and 19 km east of Bayeux on the small river Mue . The municipality is surrounded by Reviers in the north, Bény-sur-Mer in the northeast, Basly in the east, Thaon in the south, Le Fresne-Camilly in the southwest and Amblie in the northwest.
