Sommervieu is a French municipality with 990 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Calvados in the region Normandy (before 2016 Basse-Normandie ); it belongs to the Arrondissement of Bayeux and the canton of Bayeux (until 2015 Ryes ). The residents are called summer viducasses .
geography
Sommervieu is located about four kilometers east-northeast of Bayeux near the Atlantic coast . Sommervieu is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Ryes in the north and north-east, Le Manoir in the east and south-east, Vienne-en-Bessin in the south and south-east, Saint-Vigor-le-Grand in the west and Magny-en-Bessin in the north-west.
