The Arrondissement of Bayeux is an administrative district in the Calvados department in the Normandy region of France .
history
On March 4, 1790, with the establishment of the Calvados department, a District de Bayeux was founded, which essentially coincided with today's arrondissement. The district became the Arrondissement Bayeux with the establishment of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800.
geography
The arrondissement borders in the north on the English Channel , in the east on the arrondissement Caen , in the south on the arrondissement Vire and in the west on the arrondissement Saint-Lô in the department of Manche .

Reorganization of the arrondissements in 2017
As a result of the reorganization of the arrondissements in 2017, the area of the two municipalities Aurseulles and Caumont-sur-Aure and the area of the two former municipalities La Lande-sur-Drôme and Sept-Vents from the Arrondissement of Bayeux were assigned to the Arrondissement Vire . The area of the 15 Common Audrieu , Bény-sur-Mer , Carcagny , Cristot , Ducy-Sainte-Marguerite , Fontaine-Henry , Fontenay-le-Pesnel , Juvigny-sur-Seulles , Loucelles , Moulins en Bessin , Saint-Vaast-sur -Seulles , Tessel , Tilly-sur-Seulles , Vaux-sur-Seulles and Vendes as well as the area of the four former municipalities Amblie , Creully , Lantheuil and Saint-Gabriel-Brécy were assigned to the Arrondissement Bayeux by the Arrondissement Caen .
