Reorganization of the arrondissements in 2017
As a result of the reorganization of the arrondissements in 2017, the Coutances arrondissement became the area of the 14 municipalities of Anctoville-sur-Boscq , Bréhal , Bréville-sur-Mer , Bricqueville-sur-Mer , Cérences , Chanteloup , Coudeville-sur-Mer , Hudimesnil , Longueville , Le Loreur , Le Mesnil-Aubert , La Meurdraquière , Muneville-sur-Mer and Saint-Sauveur-la-Pommeraye assigned to the Arrondissement of Avranches , the area of the 2 communes of Canville-la-Rocque and Denneville and the area of the three former communes Cretteville , Houtteville and Vindefontaine assigned to the Arrondissement of Cherbourg and the area of the commune of Le Lorey assigned to the Arrondissement of Saint-Lô . Instead , the area of the two municipalities Auxais and Raids changed from the Arrondissement Saint-Lô to the Arrondissement Coutances.
