Gouville sur Mer is a French commune with 3,173 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Manche in the region of Normandy . Gouville sur Mer belongs to the Arrondissement Coutances and the canton Agon-Coutainville (until 2015: canton Saint-Malo-de-la-Lande ). The inhabitants are called Gouvillais .
It was created as Commune nouvelle with effect from January 1, 2016 by amalgamating the previous municipalities of Gouville-sur-Mer (spelling with hyphens) and Boisroger . The former municipalities have the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality . The administrative headquarters are located in Gouville-sur-Mer. In 2019, the former communities of Anneville-sur-Mer , Montsurvent and Servigny joined.

geography
Gouville sur Mer is located on the Atlantic coast on the Cotentin peninsula , 35 kilometers west of Saint-Lô and eleven kilometers northwest of Coutances . Gouville sur Mer is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Geffosses in the north, Muneville-le-Bingard in the north-east, Saint-Sauveur-Villages in the east, La Vendelée in the south-east and Brainville , Gratot and Blainville-sur-Mer in the south.
