Baudreville is a village and a former French municipality with 76 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Manche in the region of Normandy . It belonged to the Arrondissement of Coutances and the canton of Créances (until 2015: canton of La Haye-du-Puits ).

With effect from January 1, 2016, the former municipalities of Baudreville , Bolleville , Glatigny , La Haye-du-Puits , Mobecq , Montgardon , Saint-Rémy-des-Landes , Saint-Symphorien-le-Valois and Surville became the Commune nouvelle La Haye merged and have the status of a Commune déléguée there . The administrative headquarters are in La Haye-du-Puits.

Baudreville is located on the Cotentin peninsula , in the Marais du Cotentin et du Bessin regional nature park .

Baudreville is a village with a rural character. The sea is 4 km away and the nearest shops are in Denneville , Portbail and La Haye-du-Puits . The village has a bocage landscape.

Toponymy

Baudreville is derived from the French ending -ville and the Germanic patronymic Baldarius (perhaps from the Anglo-Saxon patronymic Baldhere ).

history

In 1972 there was a merger between Baudreville, Saint-Sauveur-de-Pierrepont and Saint-Nicolas-de-Pierrepont . The resulting municipality was called Pierrepont-en-Cotentin . Soon, however, Baudreville wanted to regain his independence.

In 2006, the construction of a wind farm was approved after an investigation after the opinion of the population was sought.

The main sources of income are cattle breeding and the development of wind energy.
