Gavray is a village and a former French commune with 1,431 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Manche in the region of Normandy . It belonged to the Arrondissement of Coutances and the canton of Quettreville-sur-Sienne (until 2015: canton of Gavray ). The inhabitants are called Gavrayens .
With effect from January 1, 2019, the former municipalities of Gavray , Le Mesnil-Amand , Le Mesnil-Rogues and Sourdeval-les-Bois were merged to form the Commune nouvelle Gavray-sur-Sienne and have the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality . The administrative headquarters are in Gavray.

Gavray is located in the south of the Cotentin peninsula on the river Sienne , into which the river Bérence flows. Gavray is surrounded by Lengronne in the north and north-west, Saint-Denis-le-Gast in the north, La Baleine in the north and north-east, Sourdeval-les-Bois in the east, Montaigu-les-Bois in the east and south-east, Le Mesnil-Garnier in the South and Southeast, Le Mesnil-Villeman in the South and Southwest, Le Mesnil-Amand in the South and Southwest and Ver in the West.

In 1972 the small communes of Le Mesnil-Bonant and Le Mesnil-Hue were incorporated.
