The Arrondissement Lisieux is an administrative district in the Calvados department in the Normandy region of France .
history
On March 4, 1790, with the establishment of the Calvados department, a District de Lisieux was also founded, but it was smaller than the current arrondissement. The district was set up as Arrondissement Lisieux with the establishment of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800. On September 10, 1926, the arrondissement was expanded to include what was then the arrondissement of Pont-l'Évêque.

The arrondissement consists of the part of the Pays d'Auge located in the Calvados department . It borders in the north on the English Channel and the mouth of the Seine , in the east on the arrondissement Bernay in the department Eure , in the south on the arrondissement Argentan in the department Orne and in the west on the arrondissement Caen .
The arrondissement includes municipalities from seven constituencies :

- Canton of Lisieux
- Canton Livarot (with 11 of 12 municipalities)
- Canton Mézidon-Canon (with 38 of 39 municipalities)

As a result of the reorganization of the arrondissements in 2017, the area of the 13 municipalities of Amfreville , Bavent , Bréville-les-Monts , Cabourg , Escoville , Gonneville-en-Auge , Hérouvillette , Merville-Franceville-Plage , Petiville , Ranville , Sallenelles , Touffréville , Varaville and the area of the two former municipalities Magny-la-Campagne and Vieux-Fumé of the Arrondissement of Caen are assigned to the Arrondissement of Lisieux.
