Basseneville is a French commune in the Calvados department in the region Normandy . It belongs to the Arrondissement Lisieux and the Canton of Cabourg .

It is bordered by Bavent in the northwest , Goustranville in the northeast, Hotot-en-Auge in the southeast, Saint-Samson in the southwest and Troarn in the west .

history

Earlier place names were Barnevilla (1059 and 1269), Basevilla (1262), Basanvilla (1262), Banneville and Basnevilla .

Basseneville owned a station on the railway line from Caen to Dozulé-Putot from 1881 to 1938 .
