Geographical location

Cartigny-l'Épinay is located in Normandy just a few kilometers inland from the coast of the English Channel in the northwesternmost canton of Isigny-sur-Mer in the Calvados department. The municipality is located about halfway between the eastern city of Bayeux , the seat of the sub-prefecture of the arrondissement, and the southern city of Saint-Lô , the prefecture of the neighboring department of Manche to the west .

Starting in the west in a clockwise direction, Cartigny-l'Épinay is bordered by the municipalities of Lison , Isigny-sur-Mer with Castilly , Saint-Marcouf , La Folie , Tournières and Sainte-Marguerite-d'Elle , all of which also form the canton of Isigny-sur- Mer belong.

The community was created in 1826 through the union of the two hamlets L'Epinay-Tesson and Cartigny.

The church of Cartigny-l'Épinay, consecrated to St. Peter , is built in the 13th century, largely from red natural stone , with a large-nosed cornice around the choir.
