Tessel is a French commune in the department of Calvados in the region Normandy is. It belongs to the Arrondissement of Bayeux and is part of the canton of Bretteville-l'Orgueilleuse (until 2015: member municipality in the canton of Tilly-sur-Seulles ). The community has 249 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017), who are called Tessellois .

Tessel is about 15 kilometers west-southwest of Caen . Tessel is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Fontenay-le-Pesnel in the north, Thue et Mue with Cheux in the east and northeast, Grainville-sur-Odon in the southeast, Noyers-Bocage in the south, Vendes in the west and southwest and Juvigny-sur-Seulles in the West.
