Meuvaines is a French municipality with 144 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Calvados in the region Normandy (before 2016 Basse-Normandie ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Bayeux and the canton of Courseulles-sur-Mer (until 2015 canton of Ryes ). The inhabitants are called Meuvainois .
geography
Meuvaines is located on the coast of the English Channel about 14 kilometers northeast of Bayeux and about 20 kilometers north-northwest of Caen . Meuvaines is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Ver-sur-Mer in the east, Crépon in the east and southeast, Bazenville in the south, Ryes in the southwest, Saint-Côme-de-Fresné in the west and southwest and Asnelles in the west.

The beach of Meuvaines belongs to a section of the so-called Gold Beach , where the Allies landed on June 6, 1944.
