The Canton Aunay-sur-Odon is a French constituency in the Calvados department in the region of Normandy . It comprises 29 municipalities from the arrondissements of Bayeux and Vire , its bureau centralisateur is in Les Monts d'Aunay . As part of the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons, it was significantly expanded in spring 2015.

history
The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 as part of the establishment of the départements as part of what was then the "District de Vire". With the creation of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800, the canton was redesigned as part of what was then the arrondissement of Vire.
Until the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons in March 2015, the canton of Aunay-sur-Odon included the 17 municipalities of Aunay-sur-Odon , Bauquay , Brémoy , Cahagnes , Coulvain , Dampierre , Danvou-la-Ferrière , Jurques , La Bigne , Le Mesnil -Auzouf , Le Plessis-Grimoult , Les Loges , Ondefontaine , Roucamps , Saint-Georges-d'Aunay , Saint-Jean-des-Essartiers and Saint-Pierre-du-Fresne . He kept the same INSEE code , namely 1401.
The layout of the old canton corresponded to an area of 174.73 km 2 and it bordered in the northwest on the canton Caumont-l'Éventé in the arrondissement of Bayeux , in the northeast and east on the canton Villers-Bocage in the arrondissement Caen , in the southeast on the canton Thury-Harcourt also in the arrondissement of Caen, in the south to the canton of Condé-sur-Noireau , in the southwest to the canton of Le Bény-Bocage and in the far west to the canton of Torigni-sur-Vire in the arrondissement of Saint-Lô in the Manche department .
