The Canton of Vire is a French canton in the department of Calvados in the region of Normandy . It comprises 9 municipalities in the Arrondissement of Vire and has its bureau centralisateur in Vire Normandie . As part of the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons, it was significantly expanded in spring 2015.

Until the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons in March 2015, the canton Vire included the eight municipalities of Coulonces , Maisoncelles-la-Jourdan , Roullours , Saint-Germain-de-Tallevende-la-Lande-Vaumont , Truttemer-le-Grand , Truttemer-le -Petit , Vaudry and Vire . Its layout corresponded to an area of 138.52 km 2 . Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 1438.
