Heinrich Spies (born May 11, 1890 in Berleburg , † July 6, 1961 in Bad Kissingen ) was the honorary mayor of Düren .

Spies moved from Bonn to Düren in 1920 . In the same year he founded a paper equipment factory and a wholesale company in Lendersdorf , the company May & Spies, which still exists today. In 1946 Spies became a member of the Düren city ​​council . Just two years later, he was elected Deputy Mayor. He was elected Lord Mayor on November 25, 1952. From 1951 to 1953 Spies was also district chairman of the CDU . In 1955 he was honored with the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st class . Spies was re-elected as Lord Mayor in 1954, 1956 and 1958. His term of office ended on April 6, 1961.

The city council decided on June 13, 1961 to make Spies the 7th honorary citizen of the city of Düren. During his tenure, Spies was a member of the Rhineland Landscape Assembly and a member of the General Assembly of the Aachen Chamber of Commerce and Industry . Spies' predecessor was Josef Koch , and Heinz Kotthaus was his successor . He died a few weeks later. Spies was buried on July 11, 1961 in Düren.
