August Klotz

Christian August Klotz (* 6. October 1857 in Burg (bei Magdeburg) ; † 28. December 1925 in Hannover ) was mayor in Düren .

Life

Klotz was the son of a landowner. He studied law at the University of Göttingen and became a member of the Corps Brunsviga there in 1877 . After a position as a court assessor in Hanover, he became a senator and police director in Lüneburg . After that he was elected second mayor in Mannheim .

Klotz became mayor of Düren on June 14, 1894, succeeding Hubert Jakob Werner . Elected by the liberal majority, he managed to bridge the differences between the liberal and the Catholic-clerical faction. During his tenure, the city ​​park was redesigned. Electricity plant, slaughterhouse, hospital, theater, museum and several schools were newly built. On September 12, 1905, Klotz received the title of Lord Mayor . After 27 years of service he left on 1 July 1921 in the retirement . Ernst Overhues was his successor .

After his death on December 28, 1925, Klotz was buried on January 3, 1926 in a grave of honor in the new cemetery .
