Walter Küper

Walter August Küper (born September 21, 1903 in Linden ; † October 31, 1986 in Göttingen ) was a lawyer and Lord Mayor of Düren from 1943 to 1945 .

Küper had been employed by the city administrations in Hamborn and Duisburg since 1922 . In 1924 he began his studies and received his PhD then in 1929 to the doctor of law . In 1931 Küper became a member of the NSDAP and was provisional mayor of Frechen from July 22, 1933 to June 1, 1942 . At the suggestion of the district leader of the NSDAP from Euskirchen , Küper became mayor of Düren on January 5, 1943, which he remained until the beginning of 1945.

After being drafted into the Wehrmacht in February 1945, he was taken prisoner by the Soviets, from which he was only released in May 1948. From 1951 Küper was a commercial clerk in a Protestant hospital in Duisburg. His predecessor was Peter Josef Schmitz , his successor was Alfred Stiegler .
