Ernst August Hammans (born October 18, 1898 in Düren , † November 28, 1967 in Tegernsee ) was Lord Mayor of Düren.

The producer was June 1, 1945 by the American military government for aldermen and representatives of the mayor appointed. This was followed by the provisional appointment as mayor.

In April 1946, Hammans applied to the regional president in Aachen to introduce the designations of Oberstadtdirektor and Lord Mayor for Düren . Before the Second World War , Düren would have been called Lord Mayor . Hammans had not taken into account, however, that this designation was linked to the respective person in their honor and was not awarded to the city. Nonetheless, after a positive city council decision, the district president issued the appropriate orders on August 3, 1946. Now every city director and mayor was named "Oberstadtdirektor" and "Oberburgermeister".

The term of office of Hammans ended on September 30, 1946. His predecessor was Alfred Stiegler , his successor was Richard Bollig .

Hammans was a member of the board of the Confederation of German Employers' Associations and founding president (1960–1963) and later honorary president of the European Carton Makers Association (ECMA).
