The Canton Caumont-l'Éventé was 2015 a French canton in the department of Calvados and in the former region Basse-Normandie . It comprised 14 parishes in the Arrondissement of Bayeux ; its main town (French: chef-lieu ) was Caumont-l'Éventé . The nationwide changes in the composition of the cantons resulted in its dissolution in March 2015. Sylvie Lenourrichel has been the representative in the General Council of the Département since 1998.
history
The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 as part of the establishment of the departments as part of what was then the "District de Bayeux". With the creation of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800, the canton was redesigned as part of what was then the arrondissement of Bayeux.
geography
The canton bordered the canton Balleroy to the north, the cantons Tilly-sur-Seulles and Villers-Bocage in the Caen arrondissement to the north, the Aunay-sur-Odon canton in the Vire arrondissement to the south and the Torigni cantons to the west -sur-Vire and Saint-Clair-sur-l'Elle in the arrondissement of Saint-Lô in the Manche department .
