The canton of Saint-Clair-sur-l'Elle was until 2015 a French canton in the arrondissement of Saint-Lô , in the department of Manche and in the region of Lower Normandy ; its main town was the small town of Saint-Clair-sur-l'Elle . The last representative in the General Council of the Department was Jean-Claude Braud from 2008 to 2015.

According to official INSEE statistics, unemployment was 7.5%, more than 9% for women and 6% for men. The situation of the age group between 15 and 24 is striking, as 21 percent were affected by youth unemployment . Again women are overrepresented with 31.1–35.7 percent . For their male peers, it was almost half as high.
