Airel is a French municipality with 547 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Manche in the region of Normandy . The municipality belongs to the canton of Pont-Hébert (until 2015: canton of Saint-Clair-sur-l'Elle ) in the arrondissement of Saint-Lô . The inhabitants are called Airelois .

geography

Airel is about eleven kilometers north of Saint-Lô on the Vire , which borders the municipality to the west. Airel is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Neuilly-la-Forêt in the north and north-west, Lison in the north and north-east, Moon-sur-Elle in the east, La Meauffe in the south, Cavigny in the south-west and Saint-Fromond in the west.
