The Canton of Bretteville-sur-Laize was 2015 a French canton in the department of Calvados and in the former region Basse-Normandie . It included 29 parishes in the Arrondissement of Caen ; its main town (French: chef-lieu ) was Bretteville-sur-Laize . The nationwide changes in the composition of the cantons resulted in its dissolution in March 2015. Jacky Lehugeur has been a representative in the General Council of the Department since 2004.
history
The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 as part of the establishment of the départements as part of what was then the "District de Falaise". With the creation of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800, the canton was redesigned as part of what was then the Falaise arrondissement. On September 10, 1926, the Falaise arrondissement was dissolved and the canton was added to the Caen arrondissement.
