Fresney-le-Vieux is located about 19 km northwest of Falaise and 21 km south of Caen . The municipality is surrounded by Boulon in the north, Bretteville-sur-Laize in the northeast, Barbery in the east, Moulines in the southeast, Cesny-les-Sources with Cesny-Bois-Halbout in the south, Espins in the southwest and west and Saint-Laurent-de -Condola in a north-westerly direction.
