The Bremer Bachaue nature reserve is a 42  hectare nature reserve (NSG) north-west of Ense in the Soest district in North Rhine-Westphalia . The NSG was designated in 2006 by the district council of the Soest district with the Ense-Wickede landscape plan. The NSG consists of three areas.

Area description

The NSG consists of parts of the river system from Wamelbach , Bannerbach and Bremer Bach with floodplain areas . There are wet and wet grassland complexes, lean grassland, reeds and reed beds in the NSG. In the area of the Waterlappe below Bremen there are ponds, which represent a valuable amphibian habitat.

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect Bach and the floodplain with their species inventory. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area was declared a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
