Moosfelder Wald nature reserve

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Moosfelder Wald nature reserve is a 41-  hectare nature reserve (NSG) in the municipality of Ense in the Soest district in North Rhine-Westphalia . The NSG was designated in 2006 by the district council of the Soest district with the Ense-Wickede landscape plan. In the north, the NSG is only separated from the Enser See nature reserve by the L 745 state road . In the east, the Möhnesee municipality borders directly on the Moosfelde forest reserve nature reserve . In the urban area of Arnsberg in the Hochsauerlandkreis , the Moosfelde nature reserve borders directly to the west .

Area description

The NSG is a deciduous forest complex with different development stages and age phases with near-natural running water systems and springs. The forest area with beech and oak is a nationally significant habitat for rare and endangered animal and plant species typical of the landscape.

Species such as bullhead , red kite , honey buzzard , gray woodpecker and middle woodpecker have been identified.

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect the forest with its species inventory. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area was declared a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
