Forest reserve Moosfelde nature reserve

The nature reserve forest reserve Moosfelde is a 99  hectare nature reserve (NSG) in the westernmost corner of the municipality of Möhnesee (municipality) in the district of Soest in North Rhine-Westphalia . The NSG was secured in 2003 by the Arnsberg district government by means of an injunction and in 2004 expelled by ordinance. The NSG extends to the municipality and district boundary. In the north-west of the municipality of Ense in the Soest district, the Moosfelder Wald nature reserve is directly adjacent . In the south-west in the urban area of Arnsberg in the Hochsauerlandkreis , the Moosfelde nature reserve borders directly .

Area description

The NSG is a deciduous forest complex with different development stages and age phases with near-natural running water systems and springs. The forest area with beech and common oak is a nationally significant habitat for rare and endangered animal and plant species typical of the landscape.

Species such as bullhead , red kite , honey buzzard , black woodpecker , gray woodpecker and middle woodpecker have been detected.
