The nature reserve Hevearm and Hevesee with a size of 302.8  ha includes Hevearm and Hevesee of the Möhnetalsperre in the municipality of Möhnesee in the Soest district . It was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) in 1975 by the Arnsberg district government . In 2004, with the Möhnesee landscape plan, the Soest district reassigned it as an NSG. The NSG is cut by the federal road 229 , which runs on a dam. An NSG area belongs to the 97 hectare FFH area Kleine Schmalenau and Hevesee , and also to the 1,188 hectare bird sanctuary Möhnesee . The Arnsberg Forest nature reserve borders directly to the east . The NSG is located in the Arnsberg Forest .

Area description

The NSG is the Hevearm and Hevesee with the banks of the Möhnesees. The inlet of the Heve into the Hevesee is also part of the NSG.

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect this part of the Möhneseesee and bank areas with species inventory. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area was declared a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
