The Heve is a 22.3 km long tributary of the Möhne lake and thus a left tributary of the Möhne in North Rhine-Westphalia , Germany .

geography

According to the North Rhine-Westphalia water station, the Heve rises in the Arnsberg Forest about 2.8 km south of Hirschberg on the eastern slope of the Brandenberg at an altitude of 491  m above sea level. NN . The stream, which is not named in the German basemap, initially flows in a northerly direction. After about a kilometer of flowing, the stream turns north-northwest. At stationing kilometer 20.45 the Lütte Bermecke flows out on the left ; this is what the German basemap also calls the following section of the river. Below the mouth of the Bermecke at stationing kilometer 20.04, the river bears this name according to the German basic map. With a length of 4.1 km from the source to the mouth, the Bermecke is also significantly longer than the previous flow stretch of 2.3 km.

Below the mouth of the Schottmecke at stationing kilometer 19.4, the course of the river is called Bache according to the German basic map . Here the course of the river turns more west, south past Hirschberg. West of Hirschberg, in the local area of ​​Bache, the Wacker flows first and a little later the Hormecke . The Bache flows through the Bache holiday park again to the northwest. In the further course the river Lottmannhardbach is mentioned. The name of the course of the river up to the mouth of the hall at stationing kilometers 13.8. The river Heve is named for the remaining 13.8 km .

In the following section, the Heve meanders in a westerly direction through the Arnsberg Forest Nature Park . Below the stationing kilometer 6.0 it flows straight in a north-westerly direction, passes Neuhaus , a small district of the municipality of Möhnesee and then flows at 213  m above sea level. NN in the Hevearm of the Möhnesees .

With a height difference of 278 m, the mean bed slope is 12.5 ‰. The Heve drains a 91.127 km² catchment area via the Möhne , Ruhr and Rhine to the North Sea .

Before the Möhne dam was built, the Heve was about 5.1 km longer and flowed into the Möhne east of Brüningsen .

Tributaries

The main tributaries of the Heve are the 12.4 km long Große Schmalenau and the 10.6 km long Kleine Schmalenau , whose catchment area is roughly the same size at around 18 km². In the following, the other tributaries of the Heve are named, as they are recorded in the NRW water register.

Others

The Rennweg is located on the ridge that separates the Hevetal from the Möhnetal to the north . A large hunting area for state hunts was demarcated at the lakeside entrance of the Rennweg during the Wilhelmine era . The entrance to this hunting area used to be the gatehouse , now a restaurant on the B 229 , which connects Soest and Arnsberg with each other.
