history
A Gallo-Roman cemetery with 35 graves was found north of the village in 1867 . As early as the 7th century, Evrecy was mentioned in writing with the names Evrechium , Obrecium and Hebrecium . The current place name is derived from Evrechium . Also in the 7th century there was a monastery in Évrecy, which was destroyed in the 9th century when several tribes invaded. In the 10th century, Évrecy again became the property of the Bishops of Bayeux , who had owned it before. In the 11th century there was a castle in what was then called Vreci . From 1204, Évrecy belonged to the kings of France. On March 23, 1371, King Charles IV visited Evrecy. Between 1417 and 1450 the place was briefly owned by the English King Henry V , but then came back to the French crown. The castle of Évrecy fell into disrepair, as early as the 17th century only remnants of the donjon wall remained .
