Luc-sur-Mer ( ) is a French municipality with 3182 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Calvados in the region of Normandy . It belongs to the arrondissement of Caen and the canton of Courseulles-sur-Mer . The inhabitants are called lutins .
geography
Luc-sur-Mer is a seaside resort on the English Channel . Luc-sur-Mer is surrounded by the neighboring communities Lion-sur-Mer in the east and south-east, Cresserons in the south, Douvres-la-Délivrande in the south-east and Langrune-sur-Mer in the west and north-west.
The former route nationale 814 (today's D514) runs through the municipality .
history
In 1936 a necropolis from the Merovingian era was discovered.
The stretch of beach on the Côte de Nacre was called Sword Beach , and three Allied infantry divisions landed here on June 6, 1944.
