Cairon is a French commune with 1,987 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Calvados in the region of Normandy . The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Caen and the canton of Bretteville-l'Orgueilleuse (until 2015: canton of Creully ). The inhabitants are called Caironnais .
geography
Cairon is about eight kilometers northwest of Caen on the small river Mue . Cairon is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Thaon in the north, Anisy in the northeast, Villons-les-Buissons in the east, Saint-Contest in the southeast, Authie in the south, Rosel in the south and southwest and Lasson in the west.
