Rots is a French commune in the department of Calvados in the region Normandy is. It belongs to the arrondissement of Caen and is part of the canton of Bretteville-l'Orgueilleuse (until 2015: member municipality in the canton of Tilly-sur-Seulles ). The municipality has 2,438 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017), who are called Rotiers .

Rots is about eight kilometers west-northwest of Caen on the Mue River . Rots is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Cully , Le Fresne-Camilly and Thaon in the north, Cairon and Rosel in the northeast, Authie in the east, Saint-Germain-la-Blanche-Herbe in the east and southeast, Carpiquet in the southeast, and Saint-Manvieu-Norrey in the south and south-west, Bretteville-l'Orgueilleuse in the west and Sainte-Croix-Grand-Tonne in the north-west.

The National Route 13 runs through the municipality .
