The canton Balleroy was 2015 a French canton in the department of Calvados and in the former region Basse-Normandie . It included 22 parishes in the Arrondissement of Bayeux ; its main town (French: chef-lieu ) was Balleroy . The nationwide changes in the composition of the cantons resulted in its dissolution in March 2015. Michel Granger ( DVD ) was the last representative in the General Council of the Département (Conseiller général) since 1994 .
history
The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 as part of the establishment of the departments as part of what was then the "District de Bayeux". With the creation of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800, the canton was redesigned as part of what was then the arrondissement of Bayeux.
geography
The canton bordered the cantons Trévières and Bayeux in the north, the canton Tilly-sur-Seulles in the Caen arrondissement in the east, the canton Caumont-l'Éventé in the south, and the canton Saint-Clair-sur-l ' in the west . Elle in the arrondissement of Saint-Lô in the department of Manche and in the northwest to the canton of Isigny-sur-Mer .
