flora

The most of a light gray lake marl -covered lake bottom layer is the less deep places of curly pondweed , waterweed , sizzles milfoil and water hoses populated. The deep spots are populated by chandelier algae , which contribute to the elevation of the sea bed through calcium excretion and gyttja formation .

In 1908, Gerold Stahel transferred specimens of the rare waterfall from a pond near Lake Constance to the Mettmenhaslisee. The stock was only rediscovered in 1945, and offshoots were later planted in the Mägestlenweiher near Hettlingen . To date, these are the only two locations in Switzerland. The species has become extinct in the neighboring states.
