Airan is a former French commune with the last 679 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013) in the department of Calvados in the region of Normandy . The municipality belonged to the arrondissement of Caen and the canton of Troarn (until 2015: canton of Bourguébus ). The inhabitants are called Airannais .

Airan is about 15 kilometers southeast of Caen am Muance .
Airan was surrounded by the neighboring communities
- Moult in the north and north-west,
- Canteloup in the north and northeast,
- Cléville in the northeast,
- Mézidon Vallée d'Auge with Croissanville in the northeast and Vieux-Fumé in the southeast,
- Cesny-aux-Vignes in the east,
- Fierville-Bray in the south and south-west,
- Billy to the west and southwest.
history
Airan's treasure (numerous pieces of jewelry) was recovered from the Meorwingernekropolis here .
The Airan parish merged with Billy , Conteville , Fierville-Bray and Poussy-la-Campagne to form the new Valambray parish on January 1, 2017 .
