On January 1, 2016, Hamars was incorporated into the new municipality of Le Hom together with four neighboring municipalities as part of a regional reform . geography

Hamars is the easternmost district of Le Homs and is located around 24 km southwest of Caen . The district is surrounded by Montigny in the north, La Caine in the northeast, Curcy-sur-Orne , also district of Le Hom, in the east, Saint-Martin-de-Sallen , also part of Le Homs, in the south, and Campandré-Valcongrain in the southwest , Bonnemaison to the west and Courvaudon to the northwest.
