Acqueville is a village and a former French commune of 189 (as at 1st January 2017) in the department of Calvados in the region of Normandy . It belonged to the arrondissement of Caen and the canton of Thury-Harcourt . The inhabitants are known as Acquevillais .

With effect from January 1, 2019, the former municipalities of Cesny-Bois-Halbout , Acqueville , Angoville , Placy and Tournebu were merged to form the Commune nouvelle Cesny-les-Sources and have the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality . The administrative headquarters are in Cesny-Bois-Halbout.

geography

Acqueville is located in the northeast of Norman Switzerland , around ten kilometers south of Bretteville-sur-Laize , eleven kilometers east of Thury-Harcourt and 17 kilometers west of Falaise . Acqueville is surrounded to the north and north-east by Moulines , to the east by Tournebu , to the south-east by Martainville , to the south by Angoville , to the south-west and west by Meslay and by Cesny-Bois-Halbout to the west, north-west and partly to the north.
