Steel Ball Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company was based at 840 Austin Avenue in Chicago , Illinois . In 1900 the production of automobiles began. The brand name was Steel Ball Steamer . One manager was called Tilden. Production ended in 1901. In total, only a few vehicles were built.

Steam cars were on offer . In many ways they resembled their competitors. A steam engine of unknown engine power drove the rear axle. Tubes such as those used for bicycle frames were used as the chassis . The setup was an open runabout .
