Chicago Electric Vehicle Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

William G. Beale, Edward L. Brewster and Samuel Insull founded the company in the spring of 1899. The headquarters were in Chicago , Illinois and the factory in Faribault , Minnesota . They started with the production of automobiles. The brand name was Chicago Electric . Production ended in 1901.

The company should not be confused with the Chicago Electric Motor Car Company , which also operated in Chicago a few years later.

Electric cars were on offer . Vehicles with the bodies runabout , brougham , dogcart and taxis were intended . In fact, only taxis emerged. Some were used in Chicago.
