Relay Motor Car Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company was founded on February 3, 1903 as the successor to Reading Automobile Company . The seat was in Reading , Pennsylvania . In the same year the production of automobiles began. The brand name was Relay . At the New York Automobile Show in January 1904 it was announced that 25 vehicles would be produced that year. Production ended in 1904. It is not known how many vehicles were actually made.

The only model had a three-cylinder in - line engine with OHV valve control . It made 24 hp and came from the engine manufacturer Wyoma . It drove the rear axle via a three-speed gearbox and a cardan shaft . The structure was open. One source names a five-seat touring car . Another is more specific. There were two individual seats in the front. Behind it was a three-person tonneau that could be removed. The original price was 2000 US dollars .
