Pierce Motor Vehicle Company , previously Dr. Pierce Auto Manufacturing Company and Pierce Electric Company , was an American manufacturer of automobiles . A second source only names the two previous company names.

Company history

The doctor Ray V. Pierce had already made a delivery truck for transporting newspapers in his home town of Buffalo in the US state of New York in 1900 . In the same year, together with V. Mott Pierce and Hugh C. Pierce, he founded the Dr. Pierce Auto Manufacturing Company in Newark , New Jersey . The production of automobiles began. The brand name was Pierce , possibly with the addition of Electric .

In 1901 the company moved to Bound Brook , also in New Jersey. Now the name was Pierce Electric Company . Later, according to a source, the name was changed to Pierce Motor Vehicle Company . Production ended in spring 1904 when the company was dissolved.

The company must not be confused with Pierce-Arrow , which from 1900 also offered vehicles as Pierce .

vehicles

On the one hand, cars were on offer . Superstructures as runabouts and phaeton have been handed down. There were also commercial vehicles . All vehicles were electric cars . The electric motors came from the American Engine Company .
