B. & P. ​​Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles and engines .

Company history

The company was based in Milwaukee , Wisconsin . It mainly produced gasoline and steam engines. In 1902 the production of automobiles began. The brand name was Ideal . Production ended in 1903.

After 1903 the track of the company is lost.

There were several US manufacturers of Ideal branded passenger vehicles : Ideal Automobile Manufacturing Company , Richmond & Holmes Company , B. & P. ​​Company, Ideal Motor Vehicle Company , Ideal Runabout Manufacturing Company , Bethlehem Automobile Company , Ideal Electric Vehicle Company , Ideal Shop and Bethlehem Motor Truck Company .

Only one model was on offer. It had a water-cooled single cylinder engine with 5 hp . As is typical of the time, it was placed under the seat and perpendicular to the direction of travel. The transmission had three gears. The base was a chassis made of angle iron . Contemporary illustrations show longitudinally arranged double elliptic leaf springs ; the steering was carried out by means of a steering lever. The wheelbase was 173 cm. The body was an open runabout with two seats. It could be tilted completely on hinges in the rear to allow access to the engine.
